Fresh juices contain all the vitamins and nutrients of fruits and vegetables and are an easy and delicous way to increase your intake of healthy foods. Especially in the cold months of the year we can resort to them to support our immune system. If you juice fruits and vegetables yourself, you take advantage of all the benefits they contain. No fibers are left behind when juicing, which means you create a highly concentrated source of vitamins and nutrients that are easily absorbed by your digestive system. Additionally, your body does not have to sort out or process additives or refined sugars, as is the case with industrial juices.
The high concentration of nutrients such as magnesium, iron, calcium and folic acid are even said to to elevate the mood and slow down the aging process of your body.
Here are three of my favorite recipes for the autumn and winter months.
1. Beetroot Love
Beetroot is said to be supporting our blood formation as it delivers iron. It strengthens our heart and our liver and is said to be a great detoxer.
1 beetroot
2 carrots
1 apple
1 cucumber
Extra Tip: Add a breeze of salt and 1-2 cm of fresh turmeric.
Remember to be mindful when juicing beetroot – it leaves stains! :)
2. Green Wonder
Spinach is a real power food! It is said to be high in antioxidants, iron, iodine, potassium, magnesium and vitamins.
2 handful of spinach
3 carrots
1 pear
½ lemon
1-2cm ginger
1 teaspoon olive oil
Extra: Add ½ cucumber for extra hydration and refreshment.
3. Ready To Go
Broccoli is said to be wonderful for our bones, skin and hair. It reduces inflammation in the digestive system and helps the detoxing functions of the body.
3-4 broccoli florets
4 carrots
2 oranges
½ pomegranate
¼ lemon
1 teaspoon of olive oil
Extra: Choose to add a red apple for even more sweetness.
Please remember I am not a chef or a nutritionist, these are just my personal favorites that I love to incorporate into a healthy meal plan. I hope you will like them :)
